If you have followed me for any amount of time, you know how special this place is to me. Lakeshore is where I met my husband, got married, fell in love with teaching junior high kids, built amazing friendships, and have had countless encounters with the Lord. So when Kayla contacted me about doing her senior pictures at camp, of course I was immediately on board! For so many, Lakeshore is more than just a summer camp or a retreat center, it’s a place of refuge, a home away from home, and a safe space for people of all ages to experience God’s beauty and grace.
I first met Kayla last July, when she was a volunteer counselor for a camp I was leading. Through her character, joyful attitude, selfless work ethic, and the way she interacts with her campers, she emulates a spirit of service and genuine love for everyone she comes across. Lakeshore is a special place for Kayla, and I’m so glad I got to share in this beautiful milestone in her life.
As we were gearing up for a full week of summer camp activities, Kayla and I headed down to the waterfront of the Tennessee river for some golden hour portraits. She wore a gorgeous red formal dress and- you guessed it- Chacos! It was perfect. She really let her personality shine through her session and I had so much fun running around in the sand and taking advantage of the beautiful evening light. We wrapped up her session with a few shots of her playing her violin and I could hardly wait to get home and start going through all of her images! It was definitely one of the highlights of my summer, and I’m not only grateful to have been a part of it, but also grateful to call Kayla my friend. I can’t wait to see the incredible things she will do in this new chapter in her life!
Kayla is a senior at Marshall County High School in Benton, Kentucky. She is a member of the marching band and the tennis team. After graduation, she plans on pursuing her degree to become a teacher. Enjoy some of my favorite images from Kayla’s senior session!
