Last Monday, I received a message on WeddingWire from a sweet mom looking for a last-minute photographer to capture her daughter’s proposal only 5 days later. I firmly believe that it was no coincidence that my schedule was wide open for not only the day of the proposal, but also for the following Wednesday, on which I met the unknowing bride-to-be’s parents and fiancee for a walk-through of the big surprise.
You know those picture-perfect stories you see on Pinterest all the time, the ones where the groom seems to have thought out every single detail of popping the question? And the photos get shared over and over again by girls using captions like, “I hope my future husband does this one day!” or “All I want is for someone to photograph my reaction!” Well, every once in a while a real-life story like this comes along, and I was lucky to be a part of a very special one.
Chris planned out every single detail of how he would ask Jordan to marry him, and I mean Every. Single. Detail. I was so impressed! When I showed up to the venue a few days before the proposal to meet Chris (the groom) and Jordan’s (the bride’s) sweet parents, I was honestly trying to figure out where I would need to hide myself in order to secretly get the perfect shot of the big moment, but Chris had other plans. He actually wanted me to approach the two of them, ask them to pose for a few pictures, and then BAM! When they were in the perfectly (pre-planned) spot, he would drop down to one knee and the rest would be history.
And it was. On a beautiful day in February, Jordan was COMPLETELY surprised when Chris pulled a beautiful engagement ring out of his vest pocket and asked her to be his wife. She had no idea of all the thought and planning Chris had put into this moment, and they are both so excited to have these photographs to document all of the love and excitement of the day!
Chris and Jordan, I’m so glad I got to be a part of this and absolutely cannot wait for your wedding! Here are some of my favorite shots from this beautiful surprise proposal story.
